EDIT 9/28/25: Hello, my beloved criminals and bruisers. A small update - Bicycle Boy is still on hiatus for the foreseeable future. This is due to a lack of time more than anything. In the summers I tend to take on too many extra art projects, and this one is no exception - once those are complete, I should be good. I predict I will have time in my schedule again to resume updates in October or November.

EDIT 8/22/25: No page this week, folks. Various jobs / contracts are happening all at once, ahah. I'm considering extending the hiatus another month. Not sure what I'm gonna do just yet. Thank you for your patience, and most of all, thank you for reading my silly comic.

Today's page features an even longer awaited cameo of Garth Mindfeather's daughter. He was one of the lucky 2 to nab the cameo tier during the Bicycle Boy: Volume 1 Kickstarter in 2022. I foolishly offered cameos right before jumping headfirst into maybe the most depressing chapter of the entire story, which wasn't a good place for cameos. I still feel very silly for doing that. Lesson learned.

Anyway. What are all these cameos doing in the Senator's territory? Why aren't they drab? Find out next week? Depends on where Slutman's at.

Today's page features a long awaited cameo of aardrick and his partner! He won 3rd place in the Bicycle Boy Fanworks Contest back in February 2024. I mean, just look at this masterpiece! I wish I could paint like that. ;_;

Why are the nomads showing off their outfits? Why not? It's fun to draw. :D

Bicycle Boy is back from the break!

How are you all doing? For me, not gonna lie, I'm overwhelmed. A lot of life stuff happened and I'm still feeling off-kilter. That being said, it feels good to get back to the comic.

I hope you guys enjoyed the Q&A. It was a lot of fun to read your questions and put that together for you.

It's...pretty wild to think we're actually at the 10th chapter. This is another one of my favourites; lots of ridiculous scenes I'm itching to draw. The end of the story draws near. It still seems...nearly insurmountable, but... compared to the last 12 years of working on this project, there's not far to go, now. :)

Alright folks, the hiatus is almost over! Next week marks the beginning of BICYCLE BOY, Chapter 10: Object of the Beholder. Jesus christ I can't believe it's finally time to draw this shit. I hope you enjoyed the cast Q&A! I'll see you next week. Until then, here's more answers below.

spacerocketbunny asks: When times are a little chiller, what's everyone's hobby? ( to Machk, Poet, Darla, Skip, Stonehenge, Solle, Morris, Alsoomse, Wicky and anyone else who has a notable passtime. Mary and the Senator?? Do they have hobbies??? And Gabriel too, why not lol)

Machk liked camping, fishing, singing to himself, and spending too much money fixing cars with Bolivar & Tonio. It's a whole thing.

Poet fancies a good sunbathe. Like a lizard. If this story or the cyborgification doesn't get him, skin cancer will. 

Darla's secretly really into music, like her rockstar sister. All things music. Singing, guitar, songwriting, audio engineering, making music videos, the social media game, you name it. She made t-shirts for a friend's garage band one time. She never really pursued it, though, out of blind jealousy for her sibling's success, and good ol' procrastination. Blamed it on her, the weather, the booze, her sore pinky, her boyfriend, the way the corner store cashier looked at her that morning, her job, "just not being good at it". Mind, she was always down to party, and would drop it all to help someone out.  One time when they were teens, Darla caught Delilah playing their dearly departed grandpappy's guitar and damn near ripped her hair out. (Darla later sold the guitar for heroin.)

Skip liked to draw, get into arguments on the internet, and break into abandoned buildings. Unfortunately, after the apocalypse, dwellings became graves. Had a few too many sad discoveries. Skip doesn't like to do it anymore.

Stonehenge has a hard time enjoying a hobby without trying to make it into an entrepreneurial thing. Whooole lot of small businesses under this woman's belt. She's tabled at hundreds of craft markets, selling her wares.

Alsoomse likes to watch horror movies, go to the gym, and read classic poetry. In highschool, she was on the football, basketball, and volleyball teams, and kept playing them casually as an adult before she got into bodybuilding.

Solle used to really love swimming, hiking, and learning languages. She never got fluent enough to speak them well, but that was fine by her, as it allowed her to read, you guessed it, even more books.

Wicky is a tattoo artist, so he likes to draw. He always brings markers on a journey to draw on the ruins. But, truthfully, there's nothing he likes more than spending time with the people he loves. Doesn't have to be much of anything, just sitting together, talkin' about the weather, going for a drive, watching TV (romance dramas are a favourite). He's a chill guy.

Morris liked classic cars, but never got his shit together to afford one. He settled for watching tv shows and perusing car shows.

Mary is predisposed with a lot of organizing, administrative work, and training, but she used to spend most of her free time taking care of her horses. Nowadays, she has people for that. What precious little time she gets to herself now is spent fine-tuning her well-oiled machine of a body, obsessing over her skincare routine, maintaining her firearms, or playing with boys.

The Senator's hobbies are a mystery, though one could imagine its something to do with either rotating a concept in her mind for months until she's devised a novella worth of theories on it, or obsessively organizing and re-organizing any building she walks into...

Gabriel likes to read War Theorem by #000003. That's, uh. That's the only book he reads. (Dude loves a good nap, but he is sort of petrified at the thought of someone catching him slacking off.) Before all this he was a fan of barhopping, dirtbiking, and trashy reality television.

"That elusive tea party. When will I have you..." The Senator trails off, standing at her impossibly tall windows behind her equally expensive desk. It's too dark outside to really brood mysteriously at anything, but her rigid posture could convince you...maybe there's nothing she can't see.

Mobi-GG asks: What kind of music does the cast like?

Machk listens to grandpa music, oldy old bluesy shit from the 1930s-50s, just like his grandpa. He likes anything soothing. Frank Sinatra, Anette Hanshaw, The Mills Brothers.

Isaac liked The Drain Gang.

Poet says there's music in the wind at night. He likes it.

Darla likes anything with a good beat, but especially rock music.

The Senator only lets her soldiers listen to state-sanctioned tunes, which will either be marching songs written in-house, or the orchestral instrumentals she grew up with.

Bolivar and Tonio are total metalheads. Groupies. Brought Machk and his family along to tons of concerts.

Skip loves trance music, happy hardcore, hardstyle, and 90s electronica. Forever mourning the life one could have lived as a teenager in the 90s. It has to be bands nobody's ever heard of. If it's is too popular, Skip simply won't give it a chance.

One fine morning, the Senator asked who ironed her jackets. "You did," said Jacqueline, already half out the door. The Senator stood, stone-like, scrutinizing a wrinkle on the cuff of one of her most exquisite long coats. "Surely not," she announced. "Do it again."

"Mh, that Morris o' mine is a total neur... euh, neura..."

"Neurotic?" Diego cuts in.

"Yea however you say that," Stonehenge sighs, and fiddles with a jade pebble, one of many souvenirs brought her way by traders. She puzzled how it might fit into a necklace. "First time I saw that motherfucker's apartment, you know I had to ask for his goddamn cleaning routine. Floors like mirrors. In the apocalypse. The fuck? I never seen a man's house so tidy."

"So what about that makes him angry? I don't get it."

Stonehenge nods in a sagely manner. "So I asked him what was the worst part to clean. Guy visibly shuddered, an' said it were hard water stains. That pisses him off like nothing else."

Isaac wanted to sleep. Damn these midnight liaisons, Gabriel was supposed to leave by now. But he was still here, petting.... the bed? The fuck was he doing?

"Gabriel."

Shwf........

Isaac sat up straight and looked him in the eye, his glare demanding an answer. Gabriel swiped his hand over the bedsheet one last time. There was a faint pitter patter of some small things hitting the wood floor. His mouth went a little crooked, the way it did whenever he was gonna remind him about another unwritten rule he was breaking. "It's crummy."

"You never sweep." But the guy just worried his brows at him. "It gets stuck to my feet, okay? That's why you're having this problem. Lazy."

"This is your dorm."

Oh, the urge to make a scene! How dare he point out the obvious! Isaac's roommates were out on watch, but any further ruckus would wake up the other guys on the floor, and he was not going through that again. So Isaac sucked it up and shoved the big idiot into the hall, one boot on and belt buckle dangling. The way those shoulders scrunched up, he knew he was trying not to laugh.

Yes...that's all, folks. 2 years, 9 months later...Chapter 9 is finally complete! I hope it hurt.

The rest of the chapters won't be this long, hahah. I promise.

For any new readers out there, at the end of every chapter, Bicycle Boy goes on hiatus so the withered old artist can take a break and get the next batch of pages ready. Thus, the comic will now pause for 5 weeks, and then we're on to Chapter 10: Object of the Beholder.

For this hiatus, I'll be posting the BB cast's replies to a character Q&A every Friday. Check back as usual for that, if you're interested. Otherwise...

A young witch butchers his initiation ritual, and is forever a disappointment to his family. As a widowed adult, with a child his family won't let him see, the fates themselves conspire to set him up with a vampire: a soft spoken fellow named Oliver. Monsters such as him are dubbed 'peculiars' by society. But Theodore comes from a long line of witches who hunt his kind...can their love really work out?

I loved this comic's ornate framework, 4th wall breaking characters who affected the comic from outside the comic panels, gushingly cute romance, and plenty of genuinely kind people making each other smile. Also it's hilarious.

Concerning Matters of Blood by Shea B

A demonic presence sets Cecelia Edwards' childhood home on fire, leaving her fiancée, father, sister, and 9 others dead; and her mother disabled. In her quest for revenge, Cecelia and her brother Agrippa track down a pair of 8ft tall Irish vampires who claim they are capable of hunting the creature down. As payment, Cecelia & Agrippa must work as their housekeepers...and feed them their blood! (But they're handsome, so, maybe it's not so bad?)

I loved how this comic sets itself up to look like something of a quaint 1800s slice of life, and then goes off and horribly murders most of the protagonist's family. Satisfying genre bending. Also, vampires big! Wow! Wow!!!

Clamp by Fugummyfruit

A shaggy cat wandering the desert becomes trapped in a labyrinthine, esoteric factory teeming with strange, ink-like figures. All seems hopeless, but as he teams up with another feline friend, they use their strange powers to fight their way to an exit...if one exists.

I loved Clamp's unique black & white art style. The lines are thick and lithe and voluminous, and everything is carefully textured. It is just so weird. Nothing is explained. There's a guy with ink powers blocking the door (but why?). The black-hair cat can tap two things and make them smash together (but why?). They got (metaphorically?) eaten by a giant lady and then watched lizard people sparring in the stomach-realm (but why?). It's some good shit!

Okay I've yelled about this comic before but we got Asimov, alien philosophy, a mortician on the run, a very scary secret police guy with unresolved feelings for his cop partner, Romans with guns, a pretty little war crimes general with psychokinetic hands, and best of all, the general's brother's reanimated corpse!!! Posessed by an alien! Oh, in the midst of the general's revenge quest, we would all very much like them to meet. Check it ooouuut~!
